The Museum Park at the North Carolina Museum of Art houses temporary and permanent installations of art inspired by the natural world. The museum set out to add a permanent structure as a meeting space and performance area in the Art Park.
The design for the meeting space for the Art Part becomes a piece of art with a practical use. Designed in one week, the wooden structure emerges from the slope of the hill welcoming all to enter. The fluid movement creates sheltered and unsheltered spaces as well as seating and meeting areas for the user. As a piece of interactive art, the user becomes free to create his or her own use for the spaces created.
