It has been a busy semester at the BAC with faculty, alumni, and students presenting at national and international conferences.

In October, Ben Peterson, director of Practice Instruction and Student Support, was invited to present one of three keynote presentations at the "Future Concurrent Design Education" conference hosted by the Consortium of Academies of Architecture of the Netherlands. His lecture "Perspectives from Away" situated the concurrent educational experience of the BAC in larger social, political, and economic contexts. Ben also collaborated with a number of Dutch academies on how they might explore and define the future of the concurrent educational model for architecture students.

María Bellalta, dean of the School of Landscape Architecture, and Daniela Coray, MLA student, presented at the Annual ASLA Meeting and Expo in Los Angeles. Along with Lina Ecobar Ocampo, instructor at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB), María and Daniela led a session entitled "Social Urbanism in Latin America and the Rebirth of the City".

Also in October, Eleni Glekas, director of Historic Preservation, presented at the International Conference on Archaeological Heritage of Pakistan in Lahore, speaking about the BAC's partnership with the National College of Arts in Lahore and the outcomes of the cultural exchange and education goals of our grant. In Islamabad, Eleni lectured at two universities, and participated in a discussion of our University Partnership at the US Embassy in Islamabad with Embassy staff, NCA faculty, and many of the students that participated in the travel exchanges to Boston and New Mexico.

Eleni also presented at PastForward, a conference of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in Chicago in November. She spoke in part of a session called Knowing What We've Got: New Tools for Visual Documentation. Her talk focused on incorporating technology in historic preservation education, profiling student work, and highlighting the BAC's practice-based learning model.

In November, Aidan Ackerman, director of Digital Media, and one of his students, Jonathan Cave, MLA candidate, presented a paper they co-authored entitled "Modeling Coastal Sedimentation and Erosion for Design Applications within the Fields of Landscape Architecture and Architecture" at the Visual Resource Stewardship Conference: Landscape and Seascape Management in a Time of Change at the Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne, IL.

Also in November, Felice Silverman, '92, MID'14, FIIDA, participated in the Women in Design Symposium at ABX 2017/Greenbuild in Boston. The day-long event addressed how to achieve gender equity in the building industry among other challenges.
