Spring 2019 Lecture Series: Nalina Moses

Wed, Apr 24 '19
Boston, MA, US

The Boston Architectural College invites the community to join us for Single-handedly, a public lecture and panel discussion by Nalina Moses, author of the upcoming book Single-handedly, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 6 pm in Cascieri Hall.

This panel discussion explores the persistence and vitality of hand drawing in architecture. It's an idea at the heart of the new book Single-handedly, that collects and considers hand drawings from forty-three contemporary architects from around the world.

In a culture seduced by the believability of digital imagery, and at a time when sophisticated imaging software and hardware are readily available, architects continue to undertake substantial design projects by hand. They turn away from the computer because working by hand can be more quick, direct, physical, intimate, expressive, and audacious. This event will begin with brief presentations by the book's author, Nalina Moses, and three of its Boston-area contributors: Alexander Fernández, David Barrett McTyre, and the BAC's Richard Griswold. It will continue with a group discussion, and conclude with a book signing.
