FLOAT - May 2012
Float is a new natatorium located on Washington and Spring Street in Hudson square. Float is comprised of two shear walls which serve as the primary structural support. The secondary system is a series of long span trusses which enable the programmatic elements to be hung. Conceptually achieve a large mass floating seamlessly to the viewer. The overall design incorporates the landscape aspect of the project into the rest of the building. Using a consistent architectural language of hard line/angles I am able to wrap the landscape into the exterior and interior circulation as well as the facade, crafting a cohesive project design and experience.
