My name is Aram Messerlian. I graduated from California Polytechnic University of Pomona with a Bachelor of Architecture in May of 2023. I am currently working in an engineering firm as a draftsman. The firm mainly works on residential remodel projects tasked with structural, civil, and architectural labor. I enjoy learning the many different aspects of construction, however I would like to gain direction in my career and steer towards an architectural position and future. I would love to connect with your firm and explore any opportunities if possible.
Throughout my academic journey I have developed a keen eye for detail and an exceptional understanding of spatial awareness. I believe collaboration and organization is very important in any studio setting and in achieving a project's success. Most importantly I am eager to learn. I want to gain experience in the field to better understand what I enjoy, what type of architecture I am truly interested in, and where I can see myself being the most useful in the AEC industry.
For further details of my qualifications, background, and academic history, please find my resume in the link below. I am confident that I can contribute positively to your studio and I welcome the opportunity to speak with you at your earliest convenience.
Marsay Engineering, Encino, CA, US, Draftsman
As a draftsman at Marsay Engineering, I work on architectural and structural drawings on primarily residential projects. I have learned how to convert detailed architectural plans into clear and concise structural framing plans. I am exposed to many different structural details and construction methods. I am given corrections and make changes under the supervision of various structural engineers. I also travel to various new projects where I measure and draw up as-builts for architectural and later, structural plans.
ADEPT Urban, Pasadena, Construction Intern
After my 4th year of architecture school I was given the opportunity to work with the construction team at Adept Urban. At Adept Urban I worked as a construction intern under the Lead Cost Estimator. I worked in the office hiring various subcontractors for numerous multi-family housing projects. I was also lucky enough to oversee a multi-family housing development as a superintendent for a short period of time where I gained hands-on experience in the construction phase of this development.
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Pomona, CA, US, BArch, Architecture
Cal Poly Pomona's Architecture program is a 5 year endeavor that has a strong emphasis on "Learn by Doing." The program and faculty focuses on the design laboratory where "studio culture" is imperative in the architecture learning process. After Covid-19 hit, our classes were primarily online starting my second year, second semester in which analog modelmaking was postponed. Nonetheless, we prevailed over the zoom era.
