The Seascraper uses the strong Agulhas current and works to clean and produce energy through the process of collecting and recycling garbage in the Indian Ocean.  By using various technologies like water turbines and plasma gasification to generate energy and providing spaces for research labs to study the processes and marine life,  the Seascraper becomes a structure for sustainable thinking.  Because of its location, the Seascraper is also able to house biohazardous substances and waste safely away from the coast of south Africa.
