Water’s Edge is situated high on a blu overlooking
Gardiner‘s Island. The concept of this house was to blur
the line between “indoor and outdoor”. The house
takes advantage of the expansive views oered from
the blu. Part of the owners’ wish was to include a
space to display their extensive modern art collection.
This was accomplished by creating a gallery space on
the second oor which the owner would pass through
as they went to and from the master bedroom. The
gallery space is glad in stone panels. The gallery “tube”
extends from exterior which creates the overhang at
the entry, through the interior, which denes the
dining space and then through to the exterior again.
The entry is a connector between the main house and
the guest wing. This exterior space creates an internal
courtyard which has an exterior staircase which takes
you from the lower levels to the upper levels of the
house. Further blurring indoor and outdoor.
