SELECTED WORK - 6th BIENNALE OF YOUNG GREEK ARCHITECTS, BENAKI MUSEUM, ATHENS, GR, 2010
Within an area of 35 square metres, which is part of an old building complex in the center of Ioannina, an effort is made to harness the dynamism of an eloquent architectural gesture. The design approach aims to create a austere and functional space, wherein the austerity and of architectural form are mixed. The architect's workbench is chosen to serve as a matrix of spatial qualities immersed in a homogeneous white surrounding.
On a 6-metre surface, which constitutes a non-symmetrical prism of crooked ends, all the operations of an architectural firm are realised. The surfaces resulting from the various ends of the prism oppose the unequivocal endorsement of the workplace and produce a series of workplace scenarios.
All auxillary and storage spaces are part of a neutral background in front of which the form of the workbench is reinvented constantly in response to operational requirements, appearing finally as a floating vector pattern within the limits of a familiar environment.
