Winkelman Architecture is a small, widely published, residential architecture firm located on Portland Maine's working waterfront. Our practice extends throughout Maine and its islands, lakes, and cities, to eastern Canada, western Massachusetts, Michigan and California. The office is small (total staff of 6) to ensure a high degree of personal service. We are a highly collaborative team, conversing design and detail with each other, clients, builders and consultants.

Our work is distinguished by a craft driven and open-minded approach. Our personal attributes of patience, respect, attentiveness and care make us well suited for the unique demands of residential work. We find great joy in creating unique places for living, working and playing - as well as crafting many of the 'things' that make those places special.
