Two Kites by the Sound

Two Kites By The Sound brings together water enthusiasts by providing varied water adventure activities. It also spreads awareness of the long tradition of boat building in the Outer Banks.

There are three key components to the program:

Water Transit Hub
Kayak Gallery
Kayak Launch

Sands of Jockey’s Ridge State Park and the water from Sound are constantly shifting and changing levels respectively, creating a dynamic environment. ‘Two Kites By The Sound’ looks to add an amenity to the town of Nags Head by introducing a kayak launch and a water transit hub along the sound-side shore of Jockey’s Ridge State Park. This project attempts to shift attention from the overused oceanfront to a more recreational and educational experience by the sound while respecting its ecology and Beauty.”
