This is a project targeting at the urban slums in Beijing, one of the most developed and biggest cities in China.

Despite the growing glorious neighborhoods, the slums never disappear. With the increase of the gap between rich and poor, those who live in the slums are suffering more and more serious situation. Bad sanitary condition, a jejune diet and low-paid jobs cause their life in the Capital City hard to bear.

This site is between two universities and among the new Technical Development Zone, where the urbanization goes so fast that it is so difficult for the slum residents to find a way out. The Urban Complex’s purpose is to provide a place for them to communicate, to learn and to find opportunities to live a decent life.
