Planned Parenthood of NYC commissioned SYA to create a 14,000 sf medical and family planning clinic to serve the residents of Queens, NY. Located on a residential street in Long Island City, the new facility will be welcoming and reassuring for patients while still addressing the client’s significant security requirements. The plan was designed to enhance patient orientation, circulation, and privacy while also addressing operational efficiency. Colors, materials, finishes, and lighting throughout the facility, including patient treatment areas, were selected to be calming and reassuring for patients under stress. This new facility, which will be completed later in 2014, will be a prototype for Planned Parenthood facilities throughout NYC.
