Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Health Care is a
Brooklyn-based skilled nursing facility which has assumed a
leadership role in the provision of comprehensive rehabilitative
health care, offering individuals the opportunity to develop the
essential skills needed to restore their independence.
On the second and third floors, resident rooms and common core
spaces were gut renovated, receiving new modern residential style
furnishings and finishes. These programmatic spaces included
Nursing Stations, Fireplace Lounges, Resident Dining Rooms and
Private Dining Rooms.
We were tasked with renovating these spaces, which are dedicated
to short-term rehabilitation residents. The design theme took its
inspiration from the physical movement of therapeutic activities,
featuring sweeping arcs and curves. Aesthetic balance was
achieved by juxtaposing a rectilinear geometry across ceilings,
column plasters, and wall panels. Artwork and accent panels add a
visual “pop” to neutral walls which were purposely muted so as not
to “compete” with the geometric floors. Earth and wood tones strike
a warm, natural chord contributing to overall design harmony.
