ArtHouse Texas

Arthouse Texas is a modern-day kunsthal, in the sense that it is neither a museum, as it holds no permanent collection, nor a gallery, as it does not profit from the sale of artwork. It is an organization dedicated to the promotion of emerging artists in Texas through exhibitions and artist residencies. A translucent box hovers over the urban corner, displaying projected images and silhouettes of visitors circulating within. The entrance pushed back along the side street, one enters through a multi-layered facade space between a curtain wall veiled with undulating perforated metal and a multistory concrete wall that organizes circulation throughout the project. This was a student project at the University of Texas run in parallel with a competition for the same program.
