Samuel Friedlander is a Furniture Designer + Architectural Designer who lives in Brooklyn, NY. He currently runs a fine furniture and cabinetry design build company called Friedlander Furniture. Friedlander Furniture is a design and build studio that seeks to design functional pieces of furniture and cabinetry with a dash of playfulness and cultural significance. Designs incorporate traditional fine woodworking details while also incorporating contemporary digital fabrication techniques. All wood is sourced domestically and made in Brooklyn to ensure a small embodied energy.

Participated on many projects including a Brooklyn rowhouse remodel and a large seafood distribution warehouse. Worked mostly in design development, construction documents and some code corrections.

Worked on a variety of projects at different scales. This included a 182 unit apartment complex called The Foundry at 41st, America’s largest free standing midwife center, and a historic restoration of a five story building in downtown Pittsburgh. Worked on projects from design development through construction administration.

Worked directly with principles on three design concept to submission. This included an urban planning concept for the London Festival of Architecture, a competition entry, and a proposal for converting an old ship building warehouse in Copenhagen into student housing (This project was presented at the 2016 Venice Biennale).
