ROBOTIC CARTOGRAPHY - SCALE UP!
September 25 – December 18, 2015

Opening reception: Friday, September 25, 2014 | 6pm – 8pm

The SUPRASTUDIO Summer Session exhibition showcases fourteen projects of the 2015-16 M.Arch II incoming students. The Technology Seminar - Robotic Cartography and the Studio -SCALE UP!, lead by Julia Koerner, investigate emergent technologies including 3D scanning, robotic video capturing and digital analysis of natural arte\ifacts on a micro and macro scale. Both literal and phenomenal investigation into natural systems and structures are part of the linked inductive courses. An exploration into various design mediums, biomimicry research and design morphologies are shown in the exhibition in form of additive manufactured morphologies and CNC fabricated scaled up topologies. Animations and videos showcase ideas for architectural and urban applications; a small-scale pavilion and a large-scale urban metabolism within an ideal city.

UCLA A.UD’s 2015-16 M.Arch.II program, SUPRASTUDIO will be led by Craig Hodgetts, Greg Lynn, Thom Mayne and Guvenc Ozel. Instructors for Summer Studio include: Julia Koerner, Marta Nowak, Natasha Bajc, Eui- Sung Yi, Peter Vikar Lab Assistant: Jingjun Li

RUMBLE
June 6-10, 2016

UCLA Architecture and Urban Design's end of the year all-school exposition between the Westwood and IDEAS campus engages students, faculty and the
international design community in a discourse on the forefront of contemporary design and innovation. With 20,000 square feet of studio and program
installations, 250 projects on view and 90 leading critics and practitioners, RUMBLE redefines the provocative opportunities confronting the next generation of architects.

50 Years of Advancing Design, Technology, and Culture
During its 50-year history, UCLA Architecture and Urban Design has been an innovator in identifying what architects are taught. From the invention of 3D
computer programs;; to the integration of sustainability in a design curriculum; to the incorporation of large scale CNC robotics in a school of architecture in the world;  the Department has critically defined the topics, curriculum, and knowledge necessary to keep its graduates relevant in a changing world. During
2015-16 we will celebrate our 50th year by honoring the Department’s faculty and their many innovations and accomplishments with a series of presentations and conversations.

Distinguished Alumni Lecture
The UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban Design Distinguished Alumni Lecture series features renowned graduates whose innovation and accomplishments have significantly impacted the field of architecture and or urban design.

The Weinstein Lecture will bring, from a variety of fields, those who have made significant creative contributions that are relevant to the study of
