Shiraz Life Bridge

Shiraz is considered as one of the most important centers of tourism in Iran and is well recognized for its abundance in historical monuments and attractions. Therefore, any action for the development of the city should be done taking its physical-historical and the physical-geographical factors into consideration.

Today, as a result of excessive dependence on cars and machine amongst the city, the presence of human as pedestrians in urban spaces has lessened. Improving the quality of urban spaces through realization and revitalization of the pedestrian life is one of the most important approaches of urban management in the recent years, which has been considered globally with the aim of transforming mechanical urban spaces into spaces with human scale.

In this proposed project, the design of a bridge focusing on the identity of Shiraz, as a place to revive the urban life will positively affect the mental and physical health of people of any age, the quality of the surrounding environment and the tourism development.

Inspired by the pattern of Iranian gardens and the study of their evolution, axes have been created in which pavilions have appeared as the intersection of those axes. An axis can induce the rotation of the surrounding elements around it. In other words, the axis will not be an extension of the adapted pattern and will only be a point of rotation of the structures around it.

Based on this assumption, activities are located and routes and stopping points are determined. Each pavilion is a place where the passersby, in addition to enjoying the spectacular view of Shiraz, can benefit from the existing cultural or recreational activities.

There is also a special deck for children next to the existing path, which as a large-scale deck is a safe place for children to play and move around.
