COMPRESSED STABILISED EARTH BLOCKS (C.S.E.B.)

The site is located in the heart of Forests in Panchgani, near the tallest peak of mountains in Panchgani - THE TRIVENT POINT. It is a project done under the Corporate Social Responsibility of Chowgule Industries, Mumbai.

The client's brief was to use local materials from the site itself and hereby develop a uniques ARCHITECTURAL VOCABULARY for the project with natural materials as far as possible. Hence we bought a MANUAL PRESS called MARDINI and trained our labourer friends to make the building blocks made out of earth excavated to build a 5 lakh litre capacity NATURAL RAIN WATER HARVESTING POND. 

It houses a few dormitories for the students of RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS in Panchgani who have to complete an outdoor activity., a dining hall, kitchen, a few high-end private rooms for the people who would like to enjoy the site.  The intent of the village is also to provide employment to the locals of Gurheghar. Occassionally the local people will also be provided food on a few select occassions.
