The pre-war buildings designed as “artists’ studios” were rarely actually inhabited by artists, but their double height living rooms have made them favorites. This classic apartment, in a 1928 Rogers & Poor building, had tall windows and “good bones” but had never been renovated. The kitchen and entry were re-planned to provide a comfortable kitchen eating area, the bedroom was re-arranged to create a walk-in closet, and the large bathroom and hallway area was re-planned to add a powder room. The custom plaster moldings and millwork details for which Rodman Paul Architects is well known, along with touches like the custom designed marble mantelpiece, have created a feeling of timeless elegance.
