PROFILE

  • Extensive design and project management experience in the interior architectural profession involving institutional, educational, commercial, recreation, medical and residential projects.
  • Principal/Partner/Senior Project Designer and Manager responsible for client, consultant and contractor interface, contract preparation and evaluation, programming, design, budget, project delivery, entitlement processing, personnel hiring, management and supervision, and marketing.  Developed strategic, tactical, short/long range planning.
  • Knowledgeable of planning and building codes and applications.
  • Proponent of sustainable design practices and LEED certification of projects, having completed several projects receiving basic or silver certification.
  • Actively involved in numerous professional and volunteer organizations including the Architectural Advisory Committee for the City of Palm Springs, Palm Springs Modernism Week Little Tuscany Home Tour, ULI, AIA, WACUHO, LA Conservancy, City of Long Beach Green Ribbon Committee and Borderline Neighborhood Improvement Committee.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Consistently met project goals and objectives within a high quality, service oriented and cost-competitive work environment.  Projects were completed within strict time deadlines and budget constraints without sacrificing creativity.
  • Provided interior design services for numerous award winning institutional and commerical interiors including the design and construction of custom furniture and finishes.  Responsibilities included management of project teams, programming, space planning, design, specifications, construction observation, purchasing and overseeing installation of FF&E.
  • Project Manager and Senior Designer for over 25 projects at Loyola Marymount University over 15 years, maintaining highest levels of design quality, client satisfaction and exceeding expectations.  All projects were defined by CUP’s, requiring 33 departmental sign-offs as part of the entitlement process.  Interiors projects included:

                -  The 12,000 SF President's Office Suite, Private Dining Room and 50-seat Board Room                              designed within an existing 4-story office building.  Project features included the design and                        construction of a new working fireplace, raising the ceilings in key areas, design of custom                          furniture, millwork and lighting, and the selection, purchasing and installation of artwork and                          accessories.

               -  The Jesuit Community, a multi-building complex including an administration building, chapels,                     guest house and two 49-room residential structures with living, dining an kitchen facilites.

               -  Xavier Hall Library and Chapel – the interior remodel of the private Jesuit facilities included the                     design and specification of custom millwork, architectural metal, lighting and finishes.

               -  The remodel of the 100-seat Ahmanson Auditorium including the specification of new seating,                     upholstery, carpet, acoustic panels, paint and lighting.

  • Senior Designer responsible for programming, space planning, interior design and specification of FF&E for the University of Southern California’s International Residence College (“IRC”) in Los Angeles.  The IRC is a 135,000 SF, 400-bed international residence facility including dining facilities, faculty apartments, classrooms, offices, meeting rooms and a collaborative learning center.
  • Senior Designer and Project Manager for an 85,000 SF new community center in Long Beach with a complex building program and site conditions.  The building program included integrating nine different user groups and facilities into a cohesive building which would support creating a sense of community.  The community center included fitness facilities with dance/exercise studios, gymnasium, swimming pool and locker rooms, early childhood education, youth and senior program areas, a library resource center, multi-purpose auditorium, food service and administrative areas for three non-profit agencies.
  • Designer and project manager for the interior and exterior renovation of a 10,000 SF building housing the LGBT Community Center of the Desert.  The Center includes numerous program areas, administrative offices and a counseling center. 
  • Provided interior architectural design, production and construction observation for the renovation of an existing 3,000 SF townhouse and a 600 SF addition within the building shell.
  • Designed and built numerous award winning projects recognized by the AIA, American Schools and Universities, PCBC and Pre-stressed Concrete Institute.
  • Serves on the City of Palm Springs Architectural Advisory Committee providing design review for all major architectural and development projects proposed within the City.
  • Featured presenter at WACUHO annual conference on design-build joint venture partnerships.
  • Served on the City of Long Beach Green Ribbon Committee charged with creating policy for the development and construction of sustainable projects within the City.
  • Co-chair of Borderline Neighborhood Group Improvement Committee in Santa Monica; instituted in concert with the City, a neighborhood-wide tree replacement program as well as, the development and construction of a fully-sustainable “Living Street” to help mitigate numerous neighborhood problems and issues.
