This project is a two-phase renovation and expansion of the Lib Jackson Student Union on Coastal Carolina's campus. Initial construction consists of approximately 40,000 square feet to the west of the existing building. A future phase of similar size is planned to the east. The project includes student organization spaces, enhanced recreation facilities, expanded food service options, and a 250 seat multi-purpose theatre. Phase 2 will provide 36,000 square feet of large event and conference space, as well as additional lounge spaces and food service. A key feature of the design is the linear lobby/lounge that connects the three components into one: this internal “main street” facing Spadoni Park establishes an architectural language that integrates the two phases both functionally and visually. This project was a collaboration between Q+ and WTW Architects and is LEED® to the Gold level.
