The Clifton Library redesign required a complete rebuild upon the existing site. The program called for a vastly expanded building to be able to serve the vibrant and growing community of Clifton, Ohio. The library was to include; adult and teen reading areas, a multi-purpose room, expanded staff space, and ample room for a growing new media collection. The concept of the redesign centers around an extruded band of glazing containing the primary reading areas allowing the library patrons to visually interact with the urban fabric below. This visual connection metaphorically raises up the pursuit of knowledge about the chaos of the busy street corner, and acts as a beacon to draw citizens toward the lofty aspirations of higher learning.
