Borderwalk

By definition, borders lie on the edges. The border between San Diego and Tijuana is increasingly defined by a weaponized architecture of surveillance and militarization. 

But what if this vertical wall plane was flipped on its side, becoming a surface facilitating movement and connection as a hybridized urban conduit?

Transit, new crossing points, parks, gardens and markets provide new channels  for dialogue and interaction between strangers, friends and families separated by the current walls. Borderwalk creates junctures rather than limits.
