Isabella's Garden Theater is located in Woodland Hills, CA on the campus of Calabash Elementary School. PTA and volunteers provided materials, labor, design and construction services to improve an existing overgrown centrally located garden on the campus. An outdoor stage was proposed to modify the garden allow the school to hold outdoor meetings or activities.
Conceptually, it was a 'floating stage' in the middle of a landscape area. The garden theater was one of the designs submitted in the 2011 LAUSD Garden Design Contest. It did not place in the contest, but garnered interest and support of the Calabash Elementary School student body, faculty, and supporters.
The images and construction documents were created using Autodesk Revit. I was the lead designer for the stage and graphics. The stage was constructed by parent volunteers using treated lumber and Trex boards. The drought resistant landscape was designed and installed by the parent volunteers with a generous donation from Home Depot.
