Dow Solar sponsors the annual, international Design to Zero competition. Contestants were asked to design an affordable and sustainable residential complex for three families. The site and program were to be determined individually. Each team developed a website which explained the details of the project in three phases.
The idea was to expand the environmental connotation of the term “sustainable” to include both an economic and social response. This led us to design a mixed-use program which would engage the community while providing a financial benefit to the residents. For the final phase of the competition I produced a 10 minute narrated video explaining the design process of the LiveWork project. The video can be found online at www.SteelmanLaine.com
