Bryant Park Hotel

Location: Midtown, New York, NY

Type: Hospitality

Concept:
Bryant Park Hotel is a classic icon of Neo-Gothic Architecture from 1924 in the US. A series of
investigation on elements that would accentuate the building’s mysterious, yet attractive features
were studied. The concept of ice fissure emerged as the central idea. The physical appearance of
crevasses and the dangerous quality of its nature fit perfectly to create an adventure. Ice fissures
can appear invisible to the human eye, but yet very lethal for the explorers. The idea is to create a
physical crack through floors that looks solid from plan view. People become liquid within the space
and travel through the thin opening into the large ice caves, like water traveling through a fissure
opening. The atmosphere of disorientation and a sense of being James Bond exploring extreme
conditions is the ultimate sensation the project is aiming to offer. The hotel welcomes any wild and
adventurous mind to come in and experience the experiment.
