The two-part project began with the re-design of a slum and the implementation of facilities such as a community center, clinic, and church that the neighboring community lacked.

The next phase included the design of an individual dwelling for people in this neighborhood using local materials and construction methods.  Warm weather influenced the use of thick earth walls and many openings for natural ventilation.
