Kyle Branchesi recently completed his Bachelor of Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles where he graduated with distinction. His thesis, Scalefulness, dealt with ambivalence towards the qualities cities possess. Kyle's ideas and practice have continuously challenged the notion of scale, boldness and confidence within architecture. His work has always experimented to go beyond the typical role of rendering as the standard representational technique. While studying at SCI-Arc, Kyle consulted on projects for Pita + Bloom's finalist entry into MoMA's PS.1 Young Architects Program in New York, Testa / Weiser's robotic prototype factory for PSA Peugeot Citroën in Brazil, and John Winston Studio's residential projects in Ojai California. Kyle has held multiple scholarships from SCI-Arc which have been based on his work and contributions to the school's community and culture. Kyle was selected to represent SCI-Arc in its exchange program with the Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien in Vienna Austria where he studied in the Spring of 2013 under Studio Hani Rashid. Prior to SCI-Arc, Kyle won the Tappe Fontainebleau Prize which awarded him a full scholarship to study Fine Arts and Architecture at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts Americaines in Fontainebleau France, he later won the Adeline Graves Fournier Prize for his sketchbook kept while studying in France. Kyle's work has been exhibited internationally and published in multiple on-line and print publications.
