I am recent graduate of the MArch program at the Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University. I have grown fond of Columbus during my recent studies and am looking for a local firm where I can contribute a great deal as a designer. With my background in both Industrial Design (BFA, Brigham Young '05) and Architecture, I feel I am uniquely suited for this creative pursuit.
I bring a broad set of skills to my work, as my portfolio will attest to. I am particularly adroit at implementing methods of Digital Fabrication, CNC mills, rapid prototyping machines, Augmented Reality and the like. I gained this unique skill set through the practice of two design fields; Industrial Design at Target and Calphalon and while pursuing my Masters degree in Architecture from OSU. I like to say that I am neither an Industrial Designer nor an Architect, but simply a Designer looking for the next challenge at any scale or complexity.
I am proud of how the school year ended for me, as I received the Faculty Prize award for the out-going class of graduate students. It recognizes a student that has impressed the faculty throughout the school year. This includes my studio work as well as my Grand Prize-winning exit review which allowed me to take stock of what I have learned and where I’d like to be within the culture of architecture and design. My success has led to the position I currently hold here at The Knowlton School, that of Studio Professor in charge of 15 second-year students. It has been an excellent opportunity for me to grow as a designer as well as a teacher, leader and mentor.

Responsible for leading and teaching the studio portion of the second-year curriculum, a class comprising 15 sophomore students. The second year of the undergraduate program is the foundation year. This studio focuses on modeling technique and form. The design brief explores the familiar in an unfamiliar context, the single family home. The studio leads into the next term where techniques are expanded in scale and complexity.

Assisted with the operation of the digital fabrication lab in Knowlton Hall, consulting on fabrication techniques, maintaining equipment, and researching new digital fabrication technologies such as desktop 3d printing, laser scanning, augmented reality and CNC milling. Constructed and implemented training methods for student and faculty use of the fabrication resources. Also assisted in the development and implementation of new school websites.

Studio projects included those with Jeff Kipnis and his entry into the Venice Bienalle, a Habitat for Humanity SFH utilizing Revit, a position as Digital Fabrication assistant, and a Grand-Prize-winning Exit Review thesis presentation.

Studio projects included those sponsored by HP, Nokia and Bell Sports. Primary focus was on the development of products and furniture.
Exit Review, 1st Place
The Exit Reviews are a series of public lectures presented by the graduating class of Arch G3 students. The talks, each approximately 30-40 minutes, are an opportunity for students to position their own design production and scholarly interests within the framework of contemporary architectural discourse. Each student is asked to formulate a position on how they see themselves practicing in the future and on the ways in which the discipline participates in larger historical and cultural trajectories. The Exit Reviews serve as the student's Master's Examination and are the final event of the graduate design sequence.
The final presentations were juried by an independent outside critic, Ellen Grimes from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Faculty Prize - 3rd-year Graduate, 1st Place
The prize recognizes a student based on their performance throughout the entire school year, including studio work, participation and contributions to the school-at-large and the Exit Review.
