As a recent graduate student from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, I have received a Master of Architecture and a Master of Urban Design. This has enabled me to work on not only the Micro effect of the Architectural scale, but as a Macro effect upon the overall urban context. As a student and a continuing professional, I feel that I have acquired some of the knowledge and skills through design development to achieve a successful representation of what architecture and urbanism is which is a way of life and is the environment to which people operate within. Having lived in the Phoenix desert, as well as the Jordan desert to which I am originally from, it is important for me to research and adapt to the surrounding environment to design with sustainability to use materials, construction, and enhance any environmental impacts a design may have to create a successful outcome. Over the course of my education at Arizona State University, my internship with SKD, Inc architects, and my study abroad to Buenos Aires, Argentina, I have allowed myself to discover my strengths which has helped me discover my weaknesses. Over the course of time, I have developed representational design skills through sketches, rendering programs such as V-ray for Rhino and Sketchup, as well as Podium. I have allowed myself to resurface to develop my personal relation skills through presentations and travel with my Study Abroad program, refined my drawing skills through AutoCad to prepare floor plans, construction documents, and details, as well as adaptive 3 dimensional representations to better understand the overall design and changes that may occur throughout the process. As a demonstration of my knowledge, through the process of both my Thesis in Architecture and Thesis in Urban Design, I have also developed skills of theoretical thinking within real life situations, which has enabled me to fuse theory and reality to allow a sense of ingenuity in design.
I believe that throughout my journey of life and education, I have acquired some of the skills, knowledge, and sensitivities needed in the field of Architecture, which will aid in my progression in Urban Design. I am a determined individual with a strong work ethic; I am dedicated to learning and I am confident that I will succeed in my professional and personal endeavors to make a positive contribution as part of your team in your firm.
