I am a graduate student in the M.Arch program at the University of Pennsylvania, and I am going to graduate in May, 2012. I have completed my 5-year bachelor's degree in Architecture in Tianjin University, China.
I am from China, know Chinese culture very well and once participated in some Chinese commercial projects, including hotels and campus buildings. During my undergraduate study in Tianjin University, I did several intensive construction working drawing with CAD in commercial projects and historical building preservation projects.
I am strong in modelling techniques, I excel in Rhino, grasshopper. Along with two other authors I have published a book titled “ Rhino and Grasshopper Parametric Design ”, which is an architectural textbook at colleges in China now.
I am also familiar with Adobe series, MS series, ArcGIS 10, and I also have some experience of writing scripts including Rhinoscripts, Processing to create a intelligent system for developing certain design concepts.
During my stay in PennDesign, I won an Honourable Mention Prize in the Evolo 2012 Skyscraper Competition.
I am quite active in Chinese young architect circle, and now act as one of the leaders in Chinese largest parametric architecture forum(NCF: http://www.ncf.5d6d.com). And along with some friends we set up a nationwide design group named ILIDA(http://ilida.weebly.com/). focusing on graphic Design, product design, architecture design, landscaping design.
My design philosophy comes from Laozi: "三十辐共一毂,当其无,有车之用。埏埴以为器,当其无,有器之用。凿户牖以为室,当其无,有室之用。故有之以为利,无之以为用." It means the space serves differently and affects differently according to different thoughts of different people. I believe a good architecture should concern more aspects and serve in the most appropriate way.
I am an adventurous girl and I love to try something different from what I normally do. I once was a part-time yoga teacher during my undergraduate years, and got an international professional yoga teacher certificate. I love travelling . During the stay in Bangladesh, not only I collected many useful data for my studio, but also I made lots of friends from Bangladesh, who supported a lot for my further researches and the following design for Bangladesh.
