My name is Eric Christopher Gellman, and I'm currently a graduate thesis student at The University of Maryland School of Architecture. For my thesis I'm exploring high density infill housing along K Street N.W. in Washington D.C., which would foster a live, work, play environment within a district that is currently devoid of such activity. During my first two semesters as a graduate student at UMD, I was the architecture team leader of the University of Maryland Solar Decathlon house, which came in first place overall in the 2011 competition. While the competition allowed for the exploration of sustainable devices in condensed housing typologies, I've since been adapting those same net zero concepts into larger scale design interventions in my subsequent studio classes. I will be graduating in May of 2012, and I'm currently looking for full time employment beyond graduate school.
