About

I am a young, enthusiastic and highly passionate design professional eager to continue contributing to work in the design field. My placements in London and in France have provided valuable experiences within the industry in a variety of areas.

Although I graduated with a Bsc (Hons) in Built & Natural Environments, my degree for several years was Architectural Technology & Design, providing a great insight into the process of technical and detailed design, translating concepts into design developments and understanding the importance of sustainability in construction.

During my degree I successfully combined my studies with work and other commitments showing myself to be self-motivated, organised and capable of working well under pressure. I have a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see projects through to completion whilst maintaining good communicated dialogues between clients.

I enjoy working in teams but equally as well on my own initiative. In short, I am a fun, reliable, honest and hardworking professional, eager to learn and have a genuine interest in architecture and creative design.

Employment

House of Fraser, London, GB, Sales Advisor

Whilst continuing my final year studies I became a sales advisor at the House of Fraser and was able to join a completely different work environment. Although my knowledge of the industry was somewhat minuscule to begin with I began to learn what it was like on the other side of retailing and adapt to working with new people on a daily basis.

Oct 2010 - Oct 2011

Matt Scalabrino Architects, Nancy, FR, Architectural Assistant

My second placement allowed me to work in France for several months, work predominantly revolved around technical drawings but also some extensive research and development into sustainable materials. Site experience was also improved. Experiencing the industry abroad was definitely a challenging opportunity but also equally exciting and one that was enjoyed immensely.

Packman Lucas, London, GB, Structural Designer

Packman Lucas provided a greater introduction into the construction industry through a six-month placement. I was able to experience the general process of how projects begin from tender through to completion. Gaining site experience across projects provided an intriguing insight into the construction aspects. I also took and passed the Construction Skills Certification Scheme to demonstrate my health and safety awareness around construction sites. I also maintained an active CPD record relating to a variety of areas.

Sep 2008 - Mar 2009

AZ Construction Ltd., London, GB, Manual Laborer

This full time summer work provided an initial introduction into the construction industry and involved a range of projects including the restoration of a residential property as well as the refurbishment on one wing of Charing Cross Hospital. Construction work involved typical duties; painting, sanding, guttering, measuring, fabricating and the pouring of concrete.
