I was born in New York City while my mother was visiting her sister. Two months later I was in Lhasa, Tibet. I spent the first six years of my life in Tibet. From there my family moved to India and at the age of fourteen, to the United States. My ability to draw and build things helped me gain a scholarship to attend Ross School, a private progressive high school in East Hampton, NY. Upon graduation, I studied Industrial Design on a merit based scholarship at Wentworth Institute of Technology. In 2009, I enrolled in Cranbrook Academy of Art. My first project as an architecture student was a competition hosted by the city of New York called Urbanshed International Competition. My proposal was placed in the final six and I gained an honorable mention.
I worked at various design firms in Boston, MA as an intern. After graduating from Wentworth, I worked as woodworker for two years at a traditional Japanese woodworking studio where I worked on residential structures and custom furniture. Recently, I completed a collaborative thesis project with Drew Manahan; a prefab artist studio for the 2D artist in resident at Cranbrook Academy of Art (Elliot Earls). It was a project fully funded by Elliot Earls as the competition winning entry for his lake front studio. After displaying the studio on Cranbrook grounds for the degree show, the studio was disassembled and reassembled 256 miles north of Cranbrook campus. After graduating from Cranbrook Academy of Art, I invested an additional six months of my time to complete the studio.
