Mariano Arias-Diez is an architect founder and co-director of a10studio.
He studied architecture in Mexico City, Barcelona, London & New York City, holding a Masters in Advanced Architecture from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia "IaaC" (Spain).
His work has been shown in magazines and exhibitions in NY, Mexico, The Netherlands, Spain, Croatia and Slovenia.
Currently, besides running a10studio, he teaches the Sustainable Urban Design studio at Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City. Mariano was also founding member of collectives like: LaN (live architecture network) and CAPA: a think-tank which propose new alternatives for the sustainable development of the Los Cabos to La Paz area in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
>> November 2011 update: **Mariano is taking a pause from the architectural profession, he is sick of the everything that surrounds architecture in his personal experience: clients, narrow minded society, fame-hungry colleagues, misinformed tendencious architectural publications, over rated flashy practices, and all the work done by architects that is most of the times, not financially rewarded... he's currently setting up couple of businesses that have nothing to do w/architecture from he can live and pay his bills while also enjoying surfing, skateboarding and spend time with his family.
Mariano Arias-Diez leads the design teams at a10studio and collaborates directly with clients. His focus on materials, technology and sustainability is supported through a model of working that combines practice, teaching and research.

The master in advanced architecture emerges as an innovative educational format that offers interdisciplinary skills and understanding through the researching of territorial, architectural and parametric design operations for the production of Self-sufficient Habitats.
Proposing a dynamic, customized structure, the Institute gives students the opportunity to create single or multi-scalar Studio agendas based on their academic interests within the programme.
In this way, the IAAC puts together an experimental and learning environment for the training of architects with both theoretical and practical responses to the increasing complexity of contemporary urban environments, economic forces, information flows, fast-growing cities and massive energy consumption and waste production.
