Josh is a research assistant in the Mediated Matter research group at the MIT Media Lab. He investigates how building materials and spatial relationships can be configured to cure or prevent diseases. In his current work, Josh is engineering immunogenic living building materials and multiscale imaging devices for large scale digital fabrication. Previously, he has worked for innovative biological engineering laboratories and architecture firms to expand perceptions of how diseases are acquired, and their accumulation over time. Josh’s goal is to pioneer the field of architectural medicine, with the hope of creating living environments that co-evolve with their inhabitants to outcompete communicable and non-communicable diseases.
