Stephen Hartounian's passion for design began at an early age. No matter what the medium, there was always a strong interest for designing and making. In his adolescent years he was involved in art classes and robotics programs; anything that allowed him to apply his creativity to making something physical.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Stephen graduated from Woodbury University in Burbank, CA with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in May 2011. He completed the 5 year program in 4 years, during which he was involved in studios which explored the full spectrum of design scales and methodologies. This exposure has given him a heightened appreciation of product, graphic, and spatial design. He spent his final year working on his thesis titled "hydroanaboilic_ surface" which explores the possibilities of rainwater-harvesting as an appendage which can be applied to existing buildings. It considered the full spectrum of building, from details to the urban scale.
Following his graduation with a professional degree he has been involved with a number of competitions as well as with graphic design commissions. He actively enjoys photography and animation as medium of personal expression.
