About

I am an architectural, graphical, environmental, and social designer from Florida. I have recently completed my post-professional Masters in Sustainable Architectural Studies at the University of Sheffield.  I also have a professional five-year Bachelor's of Architecture from Florida Atlantic University in the United States.

I am interested in the social production and use of space, mainly as a driving force that influences design and life. My dissertation is on the topic of cities as a social community, the city as a living citizen. Utilizing research found in all sectors of life, from governance to economics, I plan to grasp a much deeper understanding of the social needs of a community and how to plan and design accordingly. This will help my future career as I will be able to truly design for the social context.

I love design, I bring enthusiasm and a design mindset to everything I do, from cooking for my fiancé, designing furniture for my home, restoring cars with my dad & everything in between. I love the whole phenomena of bringing an idea out of my head and putting it into action, something you just don't realize when working a dead-end job. It is the constant research, blog searching, sketching, brainstorming, and the conscious act of doing that I live for and that excites me most in my life.

My architectural interests lie in sustainability, more so, the triple bottom line of sustainability. While my formal education and interests are in conceptual and environmental design, my passions lie in social sustainability and how architecture can influence society. I have been labeled an idealist, polemist, and an utopian dreamer, but I have an opinion that architecture can have the most positive influence on society by shaping the built environment to better fit everyone fairly.

I know I will be a valued member of any design or research team. Focused, adaptive, considered, purposeful, and dedicated are words that have been used to describe my work ethic. I am a diligent team member and have proven to be a leader in my previous education and experience. I understand the importance of quality and always strive to out-do expectations.

I have experience in teaching others, usually peers or entry level students, sustainable techniques with a strong emphasis on passive design and social sustainability. Collaboration is at the heart of my personal experiences as architecture is rarely done well in isolation. My goals are to work in a socially conscious setting and design spaces that contribute to the overall health of the surrounding population. It is my ultimate goal to be a respected designer and professional, with a strong reputation for careful and responsible design.

Utilizing responsible design practices and a penchant to think beyond the boundaries of the site, I wish that one day my designs will have an impact on the global community.

Masters in Sustainable Architectural Studies, Architecture, Social Design
2011 – 2012 (expected)

My Master's Dissertation is on the topic of "Cities as a Social Community, bringing the city back down to a humanistic social scale."

Recently, while working on my own research, I have been tutoring undergraduate students, helping with design and sustainability issues. I am not really lecturing them so much as I am mentoring them and encouraging them to think critically and conceptually. This usually includes full days of tutorials and workshops with them.
