I am currently a graduate student in the M.Arch 2 program at SCI-Arc. As a second year graduate student, my objective is to acquire a position in an Architecture firm with the opportunity to contribute to the success of the team in design, and the logistics of day-to-day practice.
After roughly 14 years in the IT industry I went back to school to pursue my interest in design and architecture. My BA in Architecture was earned at the University of Kentucky College of Design, where I'm proud to say that I participated in every stage of the 2009 Solar Decathlon S.KY Blue House. This was roughly a 2 year process from the initial university-wide design competition, (which I was one of three winners with both my individual project, and a team project), through SD, DD, CD, construction (we built the house), and finally the competition in D.C.
I also helped my parents build their sustainable home in the beautiful hills of Jamul, CA (not shown here). To be specific, we built the exterior walls out of Amvic insulated concrete forms, and contractors did the rest. In addition to the high-performance envelope the house also features a solar array for power, solar thermal tubes to heat the pool water, solar tube lighting, and a tank-less water heater.

Freelance digital modeling, rendering, and Photoshop work. Contracted work to design three concepts of corporate toy displays for Playskool showcasing specific product lines.

Worked on Maya modeling and plan drawings for the ‘Collective Void’ building in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), Teacher’s Aid (TA) & Video Vetting-Editing
Two Unrelated positions during the Fall Semester 2011: (TA) - Assist in student development for Marcelo Spina's Advanced Tectonics class. Vetting and editing SCI-Arc's digital lecture archive from 1974 to the present as part of the Getty Foundation, NEA Grants to create a comprehensive online digital lecture archive. http://sma.sciarc.edu/
Gemini Computer Services, Owner/Consultant
Self-employed: Consulting and servicing computer systems for both commercial and residential clients. Temporary company setup for support while attending the University of Kentucky full-time.
Hermitage Farm Design Charrette (Owner of 21c Hotel in Louisville, KY), Digital Production
A one-week design charrette studying the ecological development of Hermitage Farm into an equestrian park/residential community. Digitized drawings created by the invited architects and designers, including Michael Rotondi, David Mohney, Jerry Van Eyck, Randall Arendt, and David Biagi.
Washington Mutual Bank, IT Systems Administrator
Project Optis; a home loan origination and fulfillment system. Responsibilities included technical architecture, administration, build and support of Optis production and development Windows 2000 Adv. Server/NT Server 4.0 back-end servers, front-end workstations and printers; backup of Wintel servers; support over 300 users in Optis development environment; level 3 support for Optis production front-end applications; communicate issues and requirements across multiple channels for multiple projects; test all Optis business required front-end applications for deployment to production workstation images; write build documentation for front-end applications and submit packages for remote software distribution via Marimba Castanet. Other projects included redesign of development Wintel back-end systems to coincide with network redesign and upgrade/redesign of Optis front-end systems to XP for over 4000 users.
IBM Global Services, Service Support Representative
Dedicated to the offices of Washington Mutual Bank, Irvine. Responsibilities included daily tape backup administration, building and upgrading Wintel servers and workstations as needed in a development environment; image creation and loading for workstations using Ghost and ImageCenter; updating documentation for newly implemented procedures; assist Washington Mutual and 3rd party vendor staff
with daily administration and service of a rapidly growing LAN; assist with service requests and problem determination, as needed, for all departments, buildings and branches of Washington Mutual Bank. Past IBM experience/responsibilities: 5 years, dedicated to service of servers, controllers and related equipment. Backup to regional “Server Top Gun” for 2 years, handling escalations and supporting Service Reps both on site and via phone support.
Ranger Communications, INC., Electronics/RF Technician
A temporary position. Responsibilities included troubleshooting to component level VHF & UHF in house built repeaters, full/half duplex trunk mounted radios and multi-function interface boards.
Motorola Comm. & Electronics, Electronics/RF Technician
Responsibilities included troubleshooting to component level VHF & UHF pagers, ordering & keeping stock of tools and equipment, cross training new technicians.
Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), MArch, M.Arch 2
"SCI-Arc's M.Arch 2 program is a two-year, five-term, professional Master of Architecture program, accredited by the the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and open to applicants with a minimum of a four year degree in Architecture, or its equivalent abroad.
The aim of the M.Arch 2 program is the reappraisal of architecture, and is specifically designed to build upon and reconsider knowledge gained from a prior undergraduate degree in Architecture. Students are introduced to an advanced critical perspective on contemporary architectural issues as a tool with which to examine the complex and shifting relationship between architecture and cultural, political, economic and social change.
The program investigates the contemporary architectural platform and operates as a laboratory to identify new possibilities for the integration of emerging techniques and technologies. Students learn the latest developments in fabrication and gain an understanding of design methodologies and their historical and contemporary contexts.
Students complete their studies with the presentation, in a public exhibition, of a thoroughly researched independent architectural thesis."

"The architecture studio is the foundation of the program. Studios provide a social and curricular framework for the architecture student. Representational skills such as drawing, model making, and computer modeling are practiced rigorously as essential skills for design. In addition to the design studio, students study building technology; materials and structural systems; digital fabrication techniques; the history, theory, and criticism of architecture; and the ethical and professional principles of a successful architecture practice.

"Using shipping containers as building materials and inspiration, teams [were] encouraged to create aesthetically pleasing, sustainable core and shell designs for a multipurpose structure in Long Beach."

Honorable Mention: 2009 Solar Decathlon, Honorable Mention
The University of Kentucky (UK) was selected as one of 20 international teams to compete in the 2009 Solar Decathlon. In the competition, teams are challenged to design, build, and operate the most attractive, effective, and energy-efficient 800-sqft. solar-powered house possible. Evaluation of the project included ten categories ranging from architecture, engineering, communications, market viability, lighting, comfort zone, hot water, appliances, home entertainment, and net metering. The s.ky blue solarhouse, finished 9th overall, 5th in net-metering, 4th in public tours, and 2nd in the People's Choice Award.
Our team core values included the integration of active and passive systems with the architecture, ADA compliance, exceed LEED standards, create a modern translation of the Appalachian vernacular, and to honor the spirit and beauty of Kentucky through design
