Carrie Ann Foster is an architectural designer with projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. She presented her Master's thesis at the Southern California Institute of Architecture in September 2011. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from UC Berkeley in 2004, she worked for four years in the profession, designing schools, churches, and mixed-use residential projects, developing master plans, collaborating with local artists, and acquiring new projects and commissions.
Her interest in working with real conditions yet focusing on ideal visions, provides relevant architectures for future landscapes. Recurring themes in her architectural design work include: investigating circulation as a performative function, proposing and allowing flexibility for alternative uses and programs, new forms of 2D/3D representation, site and landscape integration, optical and perspectival illusions, and recovering strange urban artifacts.
