There is a ground, then architecture. Contextualism has always been a popular topic in my architecture student's life because I grew up in the historical city Changsha. It's prevalent to see one side of the road featuring glazed skyscrapers situated in a grid network, and another side seems dimmed with a mess of old residential. Perceiving the discontinuity in context, I noticed people living in this city need a "bridge" connecting traditional and modern. With such contextualism in mind, I keep finding ways to unveil architectural opportunities from the site, bridging the local memory and new development.
