About

Hello! My name is Matthew Lin, and I'm a recent graduate of the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University. Currently, I am looking for full-time employment at an architecture firm with the hopes of understanding all the in's and out's of taking a project from the initial sketches to full realization.

Employment

Apple via Apex, Cupertino, CA, US, Data Imagery Editor (3D Environment)

I conducted QA in a 3D environment for visual discrepancies, and corrected complex deficiencies by using unique methods and software. Working alongside others, we ensured effective and efficient communication about creative ideas and technical issues.

I worked largely in the Adobe Creative Suite, using InDesign and Photoshop to lay out pages and spreads.

Rong Chang USA Corporation, San Jose, CA, US, Summer Intern

While working here, I worked on a redesign of an office's work space, as they, at the time, had acquired some new space within their building. With a list of program items such as cubicle space and multiple conference rooms, I arranged the program pieces in the space, keeping in mind code requirements concerning movement and circulation. I also worked on a tea shop, downloading specifications for their kitchen appliances and drawing up multiple schemes for an efficient method of food service.

KCArchitects, Fremont, CA, US, Summer Intern

I worked largely in AutoCAD for my responsibilities at this firm, reading past drawings and making the necessary corrections to them.

Education

Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, US, BArch, Architecture

My studies covered a wide range of topics, with each architectural elective adding dimension and complexity to the main studio project in that same semester. My electives range from technical studies concerning environmental analysis and structural assembly to historical analysis of the development of architecture throughout the western world. My studio project dealt with a a wide range of building types, each increasing in complexity as my understanding of architecture grew both physically and culturally. To cap off my five years at CMU, I participated in the Urban Design Build Studio, an academic studio at Carnegie Mellon University focused on public-interest design. Through this studio, I had the opportunity to work alongside individuals from different organizations throughout Pittsburgh, collaborating with them to design products that would add value to the context in which they were to be placed.
