About

I am a landscape design, cartography, GIS technician, and sculptor. My work and research focuses on public art and spatial equality. I also work in large-scale spatial analysis and on socially sustainable landscape design.

Employment

The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), University Park, PA, Research and Teaching Assistant

I assisted instruction in studio courses, beginning ArcGIS courses, and a multi-disciplinary beginning design course. I assisted in-class in the introduction of 3rd year students to ArcGIS, and led seminars and did desk critiques in design studio.

I also assisted in development of curriculum for an introductory design course open to undergraduates of all disciplines.

Finally, I performed research for the Hamer Center of Community Design, examining culture sites and public art across the state of Pennsylvania.

Flenker Land Architecture Consultants, Long Grove, Iowa, Landscape Architecture Intern

This internship was partially funded by the Iowa Department of Transportation and the not-for-profit Trees Forever. Part of this internship involved the regular working of the firm, including permitting and ongoing evaluation of environmental projects and design for small communities. The portion of the internship funded by IDOT and Trees Forever was part of the Iowa Community Visioning Project. The Community Visioning project involved urban design work for communities smaller than 10,000 people who would otherwise be unable to access urban design.
