Furniture Designs for Museums and Libraries Are Available in Stores

Munich Lounge Chair Berlin architecture firm Sauerbruch Hutton designed this curvaceous chair for the reading room of its 2009 Brandhorst Museum in Munich. Launched commercially in January 2011, the chair is set to become available at New York retailer M2L in early September starting at $3,042. The chair, which requires assembly of four flatpack plywood strips, is available at A+R, in Venice, Calif., for $285. The Danish Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 Reader Chair New York furniture maker Dune built 120 reading chairs designed by British architect David Chipperfield for his 2006 Des Moines Public Library.
