Avenues: The World School, New York Expansion

As Executive Architect, MSA led the team for this new 5-story, 80,000 SF new classroom space. Four full floors, plus a new 3,200 SF lobby comprise The Early Learning Center, as well as the upper school's Science, Technology, Engineering Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) program. In addition to the interiors, the program includes an exterior space with a functional outdoor classroom and play areas.

Classrooms were designed to harvest and accentuate natural light from the full-height windows, and sliding glass walls expand learning space into the common areas. From kitchen appliances in the teaching kitchen to science equipment in the labs to tools in the fabrication laboratory, teaching equipment is integrated seamlessly with the design. By maximizing opportunities for collaborative learning, the new space reflects the spirit of the Avenues School's philosophy of discovery and collaboration.
