This project is a proposed gut renovation, addition, and rear yard excavation of a historic Federal style townhouse that had been used as a boarding house in the Village. In order to accommodate the clients’ needs for more living space the project requires adding and expanding without altering the buildings historic profile. The enlarged rear addition, replaced roof, rear dormer and rear yard excavation required an extensive approval process navigating multiple entities. The project involved review from the community board, a landmarks hearing, parks, dot and the DOB.
The living, dining and kitchen areas are relocated to the lower floors creating a separate formal living space on the parlor floor and family space at the garden and cellar.
