My name is Melinda Patterson, I currently work as a freelance interior design assistant. Prior to this I attended FIT where I studied interior design and received an associates degree. I then worked as a drafter and an in-home designer for a furniture retailer. I aspire to run my own Brooklyn based interior design firm in the future with a focus on modern-contemporary design.

 Assist principle designer with measuring interior spaces and drafting floor plans using AutoCAD
 Assist project manager with various tasks on construction site

My duties included but were not limited to the following:

 Designed and created comfortable and functional environments that represent the client’s lifestyle and taste using La-Z-Boy products
 Scheduled in-home calls, presentations for customers, and professional installation of service
 Assisted with maintaining an attractive appearance of the showroom in accordance with La-Z-Boy standards, and keeping all accessory catalogs and design center fabrics up-to-date
 Processed order information, collect deposits and fees, keep orderly customer records, and research customer payments and deliveries

My duties included but were not limited to the following:

 Drafted construction floor plans using AutoCAD
 Surveyed job sites which included taking measurements, doing a walk-thru of the space, locating plumbing fixtures, gas equipment, electrical panels, sprinkler heads, and mechanical equipment
 Discussed any changes with clients (many of which were architects)
 Revised plans to meet NYC Building Code Requirements
