ATOM Burger

Atom is a project that we developed in a very small space and size restrictions prompted us to seek comprehensive strategies between the design and our client's business plan in order to achieve maximum profitability from the space. It was designed to have a food preparation area similar to a food truck so that space could contain a small warehouse and bathroom services in a minimal area, and with the purpose of giving more space to diners. The project includes an architectural narrative through a semantic language of references about food and hamburgers. Colors were used to emphasize these references and basic ingredients, such as ketchup and mustard. But something very relevant and important was to create a constructive process with regional and local materials. We use artisan concrete tiles, and traditional ceramic tiles, handcrafted by artisans. We did the same with the luminaires, which were designed with pewter dishes and surgical room lights. The idea was to subtly introduce a peculiar reference to the known and to the memory of those elements that have been used by fast-food restaurants all the time, but above all including the community, the local, and the artisanal in every detail of the design.
