This project has been our proposal in Y.A.C’s Lighthouse Sea hotel competinion in 2016. Basic concept idea was designing a centre around mediterranean sea life with facilities where visitors could learn more about the different species of the region as well as a diving centre, a few   accomodations and an open plaza for hosting events in collaboration with the local municipality. Not wanting an intense confrontation with the existing lighthouse building we placed the        facilities round it with a plan characterized by fluidity of motion and following the natural landscape elevation. The lighthouse building lies in the centre of the whole complex with a big open plaza in front of it overlooking to the mediterranean sea.

Following the terrain and never hiding the old lighthouse was one of our main priorities. That, along with the open axes of motion from land to sea, defined the overall form of the complex. In that sense, much of our design concered around that fine line between land and sky and its dynamic. As for materials used, we kept the bare minimum by only using metal, glass and wood differentiating from the old lighthouse even more and trying create a contrast of the harsh landscape and the austere clean foldings and cuts of produced structure.
