Keefer Bickel

Roanoke, VA, US

About

I graduated of the Fay Jones School of Architecture, May 2012. I have worked in several architecture firms as a summer intern, and i am currently looking to apply myself to a full time position in the field, and achieve a full licensure.

I have had intensive experience using Rhino and Grasshopper for design and fabrication, at multiple scales.  I have developed a high degree of skill with the Adobe Suite, Autocad and Revit.

One of my favorite things to do is draw, though i typically find that drawing an image from my mind is infinitely easier than drawing from observation. I also enjoy hand drafting, a skill which was pushed in the early years of the school, but that i kept up with ever since.

Employment

AECOM, Roanoke, VA, US, Summer Intern

My position at the AECOM Roanoke Office focused on the production of images and drawings for feasibility studies. I worked in the Healthcare studio, and created Revit models for 3d visualization and area scheduling of an 8 floor addition to a hospital at UNC Chapel Hill. I provided one-on-one training to the project staff in Revit Architecture, supplementing the official training provided by the company. I generated feasibility study drawings for a military dormitory, working closely with the civil engineer responsible for the site plan.

Polk Stanley Wilcox, Little Rock, AR, US, Summer Intern

This position focused on the production of sheets for a dormitory for the local university system. I produced sheets detailing the construction of an HVAC shed adjacent to the dormitory; as well as door and preliminary window schedules for the entire project. I also produced a preliminary rendering for the project. It was in this internship where i was given the chance to master the use of Revit in an office setting.

William Henry Asti, Little Rock, AR, US, Summer Intern

This position, in the summer after my second year, focused on residential design and drafting in a small office. The project of the summer was a residence for a local family, who had already secured a contractor. During the design process i participated in several of the meetings between the architect and the client / contractor.
